In the 6th edition of Galleries Now! we will talk to Gilli and Diego Stampa about 50 years as gallerists and cultural activists, their slogan “Stampa informs” and their commitment to working with national and international female artists.
In 1969 Gilli and Diego Stampa founded their gallery and bookstore in Basel, conceived as a cultural institution and social space. From early on they promote an interdisciplinary program with art, literature, music and architecture and do pioneer work for media art and performance.
Part of their exhibition history are not only well known artists like Vito Acconci, General Idea, Marcel Odenbach oder Roman Signer but also important female artists such as Miriam Cahn, Marlene Dumas, Valie Export, Zilla Leutenegger, Pipilotti Rist, Vivian Suter and Rosemarie Trockel.
