A special focus of the theory and education at Kunsthalle Zürich are programs for kids, teens, families, and schools: Palpable subject matter, immediate relationships to artistic material and media, as well as a sensitivity towards diverse cultural and social backgrounds are important to us.

In Greek symposion means “to drink together”. In most of today’s symposia the drinks have evaporated. What remains is a generative togetherness that the expert discussions and academic presentations at Kunsthalle Zürich aspire.

Such as the Hannah Weiner Day with Franziska Glozer, during 30 Years of Kunsthalle Zürich,  at On Pun and Punishment with Avery Singer, and  Un-like with Ed Atkins.

Kunsthalle Zürich often goes beyond its exhibitions, particularly by hosting different forms of performances gathered in this section of our theory and education programs: Art that takes place, that speaks, screams, sings and sighs to us.

About

How does an idea transform into an art object and ultimately into an exhibition? What is their meaning and relevance? What ideas come into play? What can form do? What can art history do? These questions pose themselves again and again. By way of artist talkssymposia and workshopsperformancesguided tours, and special programs for families, kids and schools, we create entryways into contemporary art and its thinking.
